In 2010 SICO and the players in the swedish top division founded a prize to the finals most valuable player. A prize despite it’s young age has become a very respected and coveted award to a player during a mentally and physically tough period proved invaluable for his team. Previous winners include familiar names such as Johan Davidsson, Anders Bastiansen and now Jacob Silfverberg.  

Stefan Liv was early known as a goalkeeper who performed the best in important games. Perhaps the clearest memory of this ability is his amazing final series against Färjestad 2004, where he represented a remarkable feat when he was incredible four zeros and carried V71 on his shoulders with a new SM gold. There are few players in the modern era can match Stefan’s track record with gold in both the Olympics and World Championships, but especially the three SM gold he won with HV71.

It is difficult to talk about Stefan without mentioning what a great man he was. Something that stood out was his tremendous fighter and the art of being the best when it came to the most.  

With this in mind, the players and SICO decided to rename the price playoffs most valuable player to Stefan Liv Memorial Trophy.
